Disney buys Lucasfilms for 4.05 Billion!
October 31st, 2012 |Yesterday evening it was announced that Disney will be buying George Lucas’ Star Wars empire for an unbelievable 4.05 billion Dollars. Supposedly there is also a film in the making which should be out by 2015. Of course Lucas doesn’t wanna be bothered with any of it (which might be a good thing) considering he was the sole owner of Lucafilms Ltd and is going to receive 2 billion in cash and might just be chilling Jabba-style.
At least one person wasn’t too pleased with the high sale price as you can see in my editorial cartoon below:

People buy the competition as part of greed. This question of if the money could be returned from the investment is often overlooked during the time of purchase.
Absolutely right, Brent. Best example of that would be the AOL-Time Warner merger which ended in chaos. Shortsighted greed is all it was. Now, there is some value to the Lucas-Franchices but depending who you talk to, Disney payed too much or too little. Only time will tell…
